Scoop ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have when using the Scoop mobile application (the "App").
1. Data We Collect
a) Account and Identity Data
When you create or sign in to an account, we may collect:
- User ID
- Email address (if provided)
- Apple/Google sign-in identifier (if used)
b) App Content and Nutrition Data
To provide core app functionality, we collect data you submit, including:
- Meal descriptions and text input
- Food photos you upload or capture
- Nutrition analysis results (calories/macros)
- Meal history, dates, and edits
- Body parameters, goals, and weight entries
c) Health Data (Optional)
If you grant permission, we access Apple Health data:
- Active Energy (calories burned)
We only access data you explicitly authorize. You can revoke permissions anytime in iOS Health settings.
d) Subscription and Purchase Data
For subscription access control, we may process:
- Subscription status
- Product identifier
- Transaction identifiers
- Expiration status/date
Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
e) Technical and Diagnostic Data
We may collect limited technical information to improve stability and security, such as:
- App version
- Device type and OS version
- Error/crash diagnostics
- Basic network/request metadata
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide food logging and nutrition tracking features
- Analyze food text/images and return nutrition estimates
- Sync your data across sessions/devices
- Manage subscription entitlement and access
- Improve app performance, reliability, and safety
- Respond to support requests
3. AI Processing
When you use AI-powered features (for example, food analysis), relevant input data (such as food text and/or images) may be sent to our AI processing providers to generate results.
We send only data required to process your request and operate these features.
4. Sharing of Data
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share data with service providers that support app operation, such as:
- Authentication and cloud storage providers
- Analytics/crash diagnostics providers
- AI processing providers
- Subscription/platform providers (Apple)
These providers process data under their own terms and applicable data protection obligations.
5. Data Retention
We retain data while your account is active or as needed to provide services.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 9).
Certain minimal records may be retained when required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance purposes.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your data.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. International Processing
Your data may be processed on servers located in countries other than your own. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed internationally in accordance with applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
Scoop is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate legal basis.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your region, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent (where processing is consent-based)
- Revoke Health access in Apple Health settings
- Manage/cancel subscriptions in Apple ID subscription settings
- Delete your account in-app (if available) or by contacting support
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Effective date." Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised policy.
